Idea

First Idea

My first idea is based around a pre-existing film series called Jackass. These movies are based around a friends group that pull pranks, test the limits of pain and 'professionally' practice movie stunts for the audience to laugh at and learn what not to do when you're bored. If I were to re-create these movies I would make it a multi-camera production, with less dangerous stunts in it to promote safety on a film set and sensibility whilst in public.

Target Audience:

The target audience for Jackass is 18-30 year old's. This is because the show is extreme and rude, there is a lot of swearing on the show as well as crude jokes and sexual scenes. The target audience begin 18-30 makes sense as the immaturity of the cast is similar to how good friends act when they are of this age range.

Age: 18-30
Gender: Male (the entire cast is male as well as the majority of the crew members)
Country: England and America (the films are in English and filmed in both America and England, meaning that the most likely places that the audience will be in either of these countries)
Job/Income: part-time job/ in education - <£25,000 or <$47,060 (Doyle, 2020)
Ethnicity: White British/ White American
Race: White

Second Idea

My second idea was to create a multi-camera production inspired by a group of YouTuber's that is based on a kids game, Man Hunt or Hide & Seek. This idea would be easy to film as I could find a location easily that is wide which means that I will be able to film in it as it is likely to be public - it also means that if we are running around we will be less likely to disturb anyone or get in people's way.

Target Audience:
The target audience for this production can be very vast. The game itself and the hype that the YouTuber's put into their speech makes the target audience appear to be 10-16 year old's. However, some of the YouTuber's are rude and swear - furthermore, some of their jokes are rude as well. This makes me think that the middle ground of their target audience is more aimed at 16-22 year old's.

Age: 16-22
Gender: Male
Country: England (these YouTuber's are from England and primarily film in London)
Job/Income: part-time job/ in education - <£25,000
Ethnicity: White British
Race: White

Project Title
 Final Major Project
Unit No
 Unit 13
Section 1: Rationale/Review (Level 2 approx 50 words, Level 3 approx 100 words)
From my previous projects, I have experience with multi-camera productions and strong editing techniques. This will be helpful to me because it means that I will be more efficient when setting up the cameras on the day of the shoot, as well as being able to have enough time to edit everything together in post-production. Now however, I would like to get more skilled in white balancing my videos when I am filming outside. This will help me as my idea is going to be outside, so when I start editing, I will not have to white balance or colour correct (hopefully). My knowledge of multi-camera productions has greatly influenced my choice as it is something that I enjoyed doing and wish to do again, furthermore, making my idea a live multi-camera production would make the piece look a lot better as only having one prospective would not make it appear as though it was filmed live.
Section 2: Project Concept (Level 2 approx 100 words, Level 3 approx 200 words)
If I research into multi-camera productions, editing techniques, white balancing techniques and my target audience it will help me develop my idea and appropriately   prepare me for the production stage. I anticipate making a 5-10 minute live multi-camera video, for this I will need 3-4 GoPros as these will capture footage and audio which also means that the people participating in my production will be able to carry them around easily. These GoPros should be easy to use but I will conduct a practice shoot at the location and try editing it to gain an idea of how the final production will look – this will also allow me to change any variables that need to be changed (one of the possible changes might be the GoPros as I haven’t worked with them before). My final product will be in video form (exported H.264), the video will be uploaded to YouTube for people to view as I intended it to be as it is a video for teenager’s entertainment – this means that it will reach a wider audience. Overall, this production should only take a day to film, followed by 2-5 days to edit (not including the test shoot), which will leave me with plenty of time to have everything completed.
Section 3: Evaluation (Level 2 approx 50 words, Level 3 approx 50 words)
I will set myself SMART targets, which will allow me to reflect upon them once I have completed them. I will also write a few paragraphs every time I finish each piece of documentation which will allow me to reflect on my progress. My idea appears achievable and I already have some of the skills I require to complete this idea.

Primary: Questionnaire, surveys, peer feedback and I will take notes from conversations related to the topic

Secondary: books, videos, websites/online

Third Idea
My third idea is to create a documentary that relates to my essay - the horror genre. I will create the documentary based on the information that I have used in my essay as well as incorporating interviews with people that have enjoyed watching or have grown up with the horror genre. It is also possible that I could get someone who has worked on horror movies before.

Target Audience:
Many of my peers do not watch horror and slasher related movies, because of this, I am making my target audience 18-25 year old's. I feel that these people are more likely to enjoy the rush of being scared and be most interested in how the horror/slasher genre has changed.

Age: 18-25
Gender: Male
Country: England
Job/Income: part-time job/in education - <£25,000
Ethnicity: White British
Race: White

Analysing Horror documentary aperture
This documentary describes the 'real events' that happened in a families house. A murder happened in the house prior to the family moving in, and after living the house for only 28 days, the family left, claiming it was haunted.

A lot of the shots in this documentary are close ups - this is primarily during interviews - this is to convey tense to the audience by making them uncomfortable whilst being in someones personal space. It is also to show the audience the facial expressions to show that the interviewee is being serious.

In the majority of these scenes, the aperture appears to be low (maybe around F5) as the background of the interviews is usually blurred - the subject is sitting in the foreground and in focus. This is an aspect that I would like to use in my documentary as it also conveys a sense of uneasiness as the audience can not see what is actually behind the subject clearly.

Fourth Idea
My final idea is to create a advertisement campaign which includes a 30 second moving image advert with 3 print adverts that promote and correspond with each other. I could base this idea off of a product such as iPhone, a console, I could create an advert for a car and get shots by asking my parents (responsible adults with driving licences) to drive whilst I film.
